Football bye week

So the Fighting Illini football team has a bye week this week, so that gives me more time to rewind and catch up on life.

Long story short, so far this academic year, I’ve photographed 3 football games (one at Solider Field) and 1 volleyball match, sports-wise.

These are some of my favorites so far. Check ’em!

2011 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl/San Francisco trip

Well, now that images from the Bowl Game have been printed and that I have some time to update everything, here is a short post of my (subjectively) top images from this trip. Captions all should have dates; I would definitely not be able to do all of this in one day in San Francisco. I also posted my few memorable, top images from the Bowl Game itself. Illinois defeated UCLA 20-14 (Game in one sentence: UCLA scored two touchdowns to draw first blood, but Illinois answered with 20 unanswered points.)

Illini Football 2011

So I’m brushing off the dust here, and finally just forcing myself to update this blog of mine. With last year’s (now graduated) Senior Daily Illini photographers Brad Meyer and Ned Mulka gone, and Josh Beckman, this year’s Senior Photographer, being the Supervisor for the Illini EMS program, and with me being the DI’s Multimedia Editor (Sports Photo), I’m the principal sports photographer (at least football wise). Therefore, I’ve been guaranteed shooting privileges for all of our home games. And with the recent additions to my bag of a 1D Mark IIn, 24-70L, and 1.4 Mark II teleconverter, games have been more fun to shoot in relation to last year. Also, I’ve finally understood how much frames per second matters. the 8.5fps my 1D2n gives has been great! But enough about the additions, I’m finally able to get to put up my top 1-2 photos from each of the home games this year.
